La Casa en el Arbol offers an exciting array of organized activities for its students. Some of the activities during the week are not included in the price of the weekly tuition. Weekend activities outside San Cristobal usually have a small cost for transportation, guide fees, and food.

Only the immersion programs include these activities.

Salsa & Merengue dance lessons

Monday to Thursday

from 20:00 to 21:00!

All our students can enjoy Salsa lessons at no cost. It is a popular hour that everybody enjoy at all ages.



Mexicans are pretty good dancers and don't miss an opportunity to invite you for a sensual dance.

Back-strap loom weaving Classes

You may take a few classes of back-strap loom weaving with a señora from the village of Zinacantan. Basically, a part from watching at beginning, you will spend all the time on your knees. It is easier if you do not have problems at your knees or ankles.

You will appreciate the shade of the tree and his tree house.

Excursions to Popular Villages

The village of Chamula

This popular village proudly keeps strong traditions and character.
The ceremonies occuring within the church of the main place are a mix of Maya culture & Catholic traditions.



The village of Zinacantan

This village keeps strong traditions too. It is famous for his clothes and fields of flowers.

You may visit an indigenous back-strap loom weaving cooperative run by women.
